DESCRIPTION
The goal of this project was to create a magazine cover displaying an editorial representation of a complex scientific subject matter.
A recent paper published in association with the US Department of Agriculture shows that material engineering advancements have allowed for a glass-like material to be synthesized from the fast-growing balsa tree. According to the study, the resulting material is a better insulator, more durable, and lighter than glass.
I chose to depict the breakthrough as glass literally growing from trees, pushing toward the sunlight.
